In January 2009 local amateur poultry keeper Liz Sivewright decided to form a group for like minded people to come together. The group is growing in number and is open to anyone who keeps poultry or who has an interest in them. There are a lot of people who would like to keep poultry but don’t have the space to do so, but we still encourage them to join.  Our members come from all over the valleys of South Wales and Monmouthshire and we are constantly enrolling new ones.

We meet in the OAP Hall in Llanfoist which is modest in size and facilities but it meets our needs and budget.  When we were a newly formed group trying to establish ourselves we found we could not afford the high hourly hire charges plus additional charges to use Llanfoist Village Hall. We now have a lively group and are going from strength to strength.

The rewards of keeping poultry are obviously the fresh eggs; but another benefit often overlooked is the fun, the enjoyment and the total focus on passive watching – it’s the ultimate stress-buster! In the future we hope to invite guest speakers to our meetings and organise shows and trips to places of interest. We are a friendly, approachable and inclusive group.

If you would like to join Llanfoist Poultry and Game Group email us at enquiries@llanfoistpoultryandgamegroup.co.uk or if you like you can use our contact form which you’ll find here.
